Get involved with something big—record-breaking big! Help touch the lives of people in need while celebrating MCC's 100th anniversary. MCC is attempting to collect 6,500 comforters to deliver to people affected by conflict and disaster around the world.
MCC needs your help to reach our goal of 6,500 handmade comforters on January 18, 2020.
Why make comforters?
Last year, MCC sent more than 53,000 handmade comforters to people in disaster situations who lack basic necessities. Recipients use comforters as bed covers, room dividers, carpets, curtains, wraps, mattresses and more. Again and again, recipients express their gratitude for the gift of an MCC comforter.
MCC is getting more requests for comforters from global partners than what have previously been able to provide. MCC needs your help to meet this need! You can provide warmth and a tangible message to people that their needs are not forgotten.
Here’s how you can get involved:
Make a comforter
Make a comforter on your own, or with a group, any time leading up to the event.
Read the full instructions for making a comforter.
Host a comforter-making event
Making comforters can be a great engagement activity for churches, community groups and sewing clubs. The comforter-making process includes people with a range of sewing abilities. Beginners can help tie the knots in the comforters while intermediate and experienced sewers piece together the tops.
If you’re interested in hosting a comforter-making event, contact your local MCC office.
Download the event poster or a poster for hosting your own event.
